Guess the word
Picking a word.
Picking a word.
Guess the hidden word. Type a word and press Enter. Each guess has to be a real word of the right length. You get one more try than the word has letters, and never fewer than six.
Ranked and practice
Online, every round is ranked. Each letter you find earns points, and finding where it goes earns more. The earlier the guess, the bigger its multiplier: your first guess counts as many times over as you have tries, your last just once. Solving adds a bonus for the whole word, so solving on the first try always scores the most, and longer words score more. A lost round scores nothing.
Offline, you play practice rounds, which count in this device's stats but not on the leaderboard.
Word length and hard mode
Pick 4 to 14 letters on the game card; 5 is the classic. A length with only a few possible words keeps six tries, so nobody can simply try them all. Hard mode, in Settings, makes every green letter stay put and every gold letter get used again.
Giving up, or leaving a ranked round once you have guessed, counts as a loss.

Rounds
Save a name first to add rounds automatically.
Green letters stay in place and gold letters must be used again. Changes apply from the next round.
The leaderboard name is filled in whenever you add a round, so it is always the last one you used. With automatic adding on, every solved ranked round goes on the leaderboard under it. Settings are kept in this browser.
